Cyril Gaffiero, one of the rising stars of French lutherie, is based in
the small village of Valence-en-Brie. Close to Django's former home of
Samois, Cyril draws inspiration from the abundance of Gypsy jazz history
in the area. His guitars are known for their traditional tone,
excellent projection, and high quality workmanship.
This stunning grande bouche model features a spruce top, solid walnut
back and sides, and a walnut neck with twin ebony splines. Hardware includes a gold tailpiece and a
set of Schaller tuners with ebony buttons. The bridge has a
compensated B string which results in more precise intonation.
This is one loud guitar! Unlike so many D holes which are too bass heavy and dark, this exceptional instrument produces a tone which is crisp and balanced. The focus and clarity of this guitar make it equally capable at producing searing leads and full bodied rhythm work. It's a true all-rounder which is not easy to find!
This guitar is setup with exceptionally low 2.6mm action which results in a slinky, easy playing feel. There is a bit of shop wear, mostly some pick wear on the top and a small ding on the back. It is otherwise very clean and a great deal considering what a new model would cost.
