This particularly attractive Selmer style guitar was built by the skilled and inventive luthier Florian Jegu. Based in the Brittany region of France, Jegu blends a deep knowledge of Selmer Maccaferri luthiery with a well honed aesthetic sense. As a result, his guitars posses a satisfying traditional tone, yet look fresh and modern.
This handsome example of Jegu's work features a gorgeous tinted spruce top that has the most unusual and beautiful figure I've ever seen! The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, the Busato style neck is fashioned from European walnut and reinforced with an American walnut spline, and the fingerboard is ebony. The back of the headstock has an attractive rosewood veneer and the heel, which is gently contoured to fit your hand, features a rosewood cap. The striking rosette is comprised of alternating walnut and black bands which echoes the purfling.
Tonally, this guitar is exceptionally colorful and full of life! Rich in overtones, each note is comprised of a wonderfully complex and pleasing blend of the fundamental pitch and higher harmonics. The result is something quite unique and surprising, making this instrument particularly well suited to situations in which its subtleties can be appreciated (i.e. unaccompanied solo playing or close mic'd recording.) It is also quite loud and the bass response is just how I like it, deep and preset but not overbearing.
If you're looking for a guitar with a lot of personality, both tonally and visually, than this is it!
