Maurice Dupont has long been one of the most respected luthiers in
France and one of the first contemporary makers to specialize in
producing the Selmer Maccaferri guitar. Maurice first gained recognition
as a builder of classical guitars and in 1989 was bestowed with the
honor of "Best French Craftsman." Maurice was an apprentice of the
legendary Gypsy guitar maker Jacques Favino, and in 1986 he began
building his own Selmer style guitars which quickly became the most
popular choice of professional Gypsy guitarists. Countless Gypsy stars
including Raphael Fays, Biréli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, and Romane
have played Dupont guitars which appear on hundreds of recordings.
Dupont's Gypsy models are built entirely in Cognac, France by master luthier Patrick Redureau (who joined the Dupont team in 1994) under the supervision of Maurice Dupont. The collective experience.of the Dupont team along with Maurice's stock of well aged, select tonewoods yields instruments of unsurpassed tone and playability
The
MC30 model is Maurice Dupont's tribute to the legendary Maccaferri
design. It has a 12 fret neck and shorter 650mm scale length which
allows for easy playability and a lush, warm tone. Unlike most typical
Selmer type guitars, this instrument has SOLID rosewood back and sides
which adds to the warmth and complexity of the tone. Hardware includes a
DR tailpiece and set of Kluson style tuners.

1993 Dupont MC30
The right guitar at the right time. After hearing about my arthritis challenges, Michael recommended the 1993 Dupont MC30 that he had in inventory. I have got to say that he advised correctly - this guitar has a short scale and a voice that is quite sophisticated. Exactly what I was looking for. No pain while playing and a palette that serves both Django style and the "beyond" type of music that I play. Having played many Duponts myself, Michael has the experience to know this one was a match. His knowledge is the reason I reached out to him. Happy customer.
