Altamira M30 Antique

While I am an experienced acoustic guitar player, I am the greatest rookie when it comes to "gypsy" jazz. Michael helped me figure out what model I should get, plus the kinds of strings and pics this type of guitar needs. Service, advice and delivery were tops. I am just amazed at how the Chinese luthiers perform when it comes to duplicating the build and sound of vintage guitars. This build seems to show the great detail they will cover when putting this together and it is reflected in the sound that their antique finish produces.

Pros: Tone, feel, weight, look

Cons: Several high frets (weirdly, frets are level at the edges of the fretboard but 5 or 6 frets are high down the center of the fretboard)

Altamira M30 Antique, upgraded the tailpiece to a DuPont DR. Fit and finish are excellent. Surprisingly light build, very resonant. Comfortable neck. Pleasing voice, loud and complex, nicely balanced both up and down the neck and string-to-string. Enjoying the look and feel of the antique finish (quite a bit darker than the website pics). Very happy to own this guitar :-)

Pros: Looks, tone, quality

This guitar is beautiful. The varnished top is not antiqued in a bad way, as can sometimes happen. You can see how thin the coat of varnish is, which can only contribute to the tone. Mine is darker than some of the photos here; the top is more orangish like the picture of the sound hole in the listing, and the rosewood is very dark. And the tone- has plenty of bark, but gets thick and rich when you want it to. The whole guitar is very resonant, and I have to be careful not to clamp down too hard on it. Everything looks to be put together with care. I'm not a fan of C-shaped necks, but this one is quite comfortable to play. Action is nice and even up and down the neck.

Pros: Great service from DjangoBooks & Great Value from Altamira!

I purchased this guitar after doing a good amount of research-and ultimately speaking with Michael to confirm that I was heading in the right direction; I could not be happier! The guitar sounds and plays well above it's price point-and the service & shipping were also excellent. Having played some other options, the Altamira really stands far above the competition. I'll be making more purchases with DjangoBooks!!!

The M30 is certainly authentic looking. It has a very even sound and quite a lot of projection. It?s very playable and has very good balance. The sound in upper register is very clear and focused. Overall, the M30 Antique is an exceptional value and a finer guitar than many that are 2x the price!

Pros: Great tone, excellent build quality, very loud

This is such a fantastic guitar. It sounds very very good. It arrived set up perfectly, all I had to do was tune it up out of the box and it was ready to play. Thanks to Michael for his excellent service, and thanks for this wonderful guitar!

This is the most beautiful sounding guitar I have ever had the opportunity to play. Like the other review I was pretty nervous about buying a guitar online without playing it, but the good people at Djangobooks did not disappoint. I just wanted to let you know how much I'm loving this guitar - The Altimira M30 is just fantastic, but its now ruined all other guitars for me. All my other instruments, and all my friends guitars seem "muddy" by comparison! This thing just jumps! Your setup is exceptional, and this is easily the most playable instrument I have right now. I opted for the Dupont DR tailpiece upgrade, and I think that was a wise choice! Thanks again —I was a bit nervous ordering an instrument without trying it out first, but this has exceeded all my expectations! I am a convert for life!
