This is Bob's Modele Nouveau which is played by Alfonso Ponticelli and Mathieu Chatelain. In fact, this guitar is part of a pair of which the other is owned by Alfonso Ponticelli.
The body is standard Selmer
size (15 3/4") and the scale is 670mm.
This guitar is impossibly light at 3.6lbs! Most Duponts are around 4lbs, Dell Artes around 4.5 lbs.
The top is made from 120 year old Incense Cedar, back and sides are East Indian Rosewood. The neck is made of Walnut and features a Busato style Rosewood spline. There is no truss rod, but the neck is reinforced with carbon strips which will keep it eternally straight. The fingerboard is made of Rosewood.Around the shop this guitar is affectionately known as the "Weapon of Mass Destruction!" If you want volume galore, then this is the definitely the guitar for you. Single note lines will cut through and army of flailing rhythm guitars and chordal work just engulfs the listener with a tidal wave of sound. In the hundreds of guitars that have come through DjangoBooks.com, there is only one guitar that was louder than this and that was a 40s Busato. So this is something special....the projection it has seems to defy the laws of physics! You'd swear there was an amplifier hidden somewhere, but it's just the guitar you're hearing....
In addition to it's prodigious volume, this guitar has a nice Selmer like complexity to it. There are enough mids to give single note lines a fat, meaty sound. It is also a very "open" sounding instrument with a sweet natural reverb. Cedar is known for sounding "broken in" right away and that certainly seems to be the case with this guitar.
