The only reason why I gave this a 4 star rating is the price. I prefer a pick with a slightly rounded edge and this met my needs quite well. I prefer the rounded edge as it makes easy work of rest stroke picking and sweeps. This pickI glides very nicely through the strings, much like my Bluechip SR 60 and has a very present warm tone. It excels at rhythm and can tame an overly bright guitar for single notes. It sounded fantastic on a maple topped guitar, that I historically felt was too bri...

Manouche Pick Model Romino Ivory 3mm

Nicely beveled 3mm pick, handmade in Holland. This pick was crafted to the specs of the great Dutch Gypsy rhythm guitarist Romino Grunholz (rhythm player for the Paulus Schafer Trio.). It is based on an original pick that Django himself used! Nous'che Rosenberg of the Rosenberg Trio also uses this model pick.

3mm Pick

Pros: Great at rhythm; warm; tames highs and shrieky guitars

Cons: Not for folks who prefer a pointed edge.

It sounded fantastic on a maple topped guitar, that I historically felt was too bright for me. For rhythm, this is the sound I have been after and enjoy. with a deep woosh. It glides quite easily through the strings and with proper technique, it gets the sound. I also bought a 4mm for gigs where I am strictly rhythm and I love it. On gigs where I am amplified, I can certainly get a little lost in the mix, but a slight treble boost on my pre-amp will get me where I need to be. Regardless, these have quickly become a pick I always bring to gigs and jams. It is a good option for folks who like a more rounded edge and for rhythm specialists.
