Over the past decade Leo Eimers has been one of the prominent builders
of Selmer Maccaferri guitars in the Netherlands. Based in Almere, just
outside of Amsterdam, Eimers builds his instruments entirely himself
by hand. He is particularly well respected as a student of "Golden
Age" luthiers such as Maccaferri, Selmer, Busato, and Favino. He uses
his knowledge of these luthiers to build some of the most authentic
and well constructed Selmer copies available. His instruments have been
used by many professionals over the years, most notably Stochelo and
Nous'che Rosenberg of the Rosenberg Trio, Robin Nolan, Boulou Ferre,
and Wawau Adler.
This is Leo's Model Amati which takes its inspiration from the classic
Di Mauro Special Chorus design, featuring f holes, a cedar top, highly
figured walnut back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a maple spline.
Although this guitar bears a strong resemblance to Di Mauro's famous
model, this instrument is really a hybrid with numerous Selmer type
features such as a five brace top and 670mm scale. This model was custom ordered and includes a unique maple bridge with and ebony saddle, a MOP truss rod cover and a bigtone pickup.
Sonically this instrument has all the character and "wow" factory you'd expect from a cedar top instrument! Despite being just a few years old, it posses the tonal maturity and refinement of an well aged vintage guitar. First off, it is very loud with more than enough volume to get you through the rowdiest of jam sessions. But more importantly, this instrument is very clear and precise with well defined single note projection and concise, crisp chords. Additionally, the rather large 4 1/8" body allows for a full and robust bass response.
This instrument is in excellent condition and is set up with easy playing 2.8mm action. There is one small ding on the lower bass bout of the top and a pick scratch on lower treble bout of the top. Otherwise,. this instrument is in almost new condition.
This
is a chance to get obtain a custom Eimers guitar at a great
price! A new one would cost nearly $1000 more, making this instrument
an exceptional deal.
