2004 Jean-Pierre Favino 14 Fret D Hole Guitar with TKL Hardshell Case ***SOLD!!!***
This guitar represents the final culmination of over 50 years of Favino
guitars. Jean-Pierre has taken the lessons of his father to improve the
playability, volume, and tone of the Favino guitar. The body is smaller
then the original Favino. It is nearly identical to a Selmer: 15 3/4"
wide, 4" deep. Scale length is 666mm which is slightly shorter
then a Selmer (670mm). The back and sides are amazing Brazilian
Rosewood, the top is Spruce, and it has a 5 piece Maple neck. Other
innovations include the solid wood tailpiece (ala Benedetto).
Overall, I would definitely describe this guitar as the ultimate modern
Gypsy jazz lead machine. If you like to play Minor Swing one moment,
and then Donna Lee the next, this is the guitar for you. Any of the
high speed, modern Gypsy-Bop licks of Bireli, Stochelo, etc. are easily
executed on this guitar. It almost plays itself. The shorter 666mm
scale keeps the string tension low, allowing for greater ease of play.
This guitar was personally built for Ted Gottsegen, the illustrious
Gypsy jazz rhythm player (plays with Robin Nolan, Andreas Oberg, Wawau
Adler, Stephane Wrembel, and others.) His initials "TG" are on the
tailpiece and the label states that the guitar was built for him.
The guitar is in very good condition. The only issue is some substantial
checking of the finish. This is quite common with JP guitars. He uses
an exceptionally thin finish which allows the guitar to resonate
efficiently. Most of his guitars look like this after a few years.
