This lovely instrument was built in the UK by JWC's master luthier Jeongwoo Cho. It features highly figured woods, including a bearclaw sitka spruce top, curly walnut back and sides, and a walnut neck. Additionally, this instrument includes some traditional Selmer features normally only found on very high priced flagship models, including a heat bent top, a grafted headstock, and a set of closed brass tuners.
Soundwise, this instrument avoids the overly dark, bass heavy sound that is typical of many D hole models. Instead, the tone is quite balanced, with a fair amount of high end sizzle, but with a fuller midange and a deeper bass than an oval hole model would have. Its snappy tone makes it more than adequate for traditional Gypsy playing while its overall balance gives it a versatility that makes this instrument handy for a number of other styles (i.e. swing, folk, blues, etc.)
This instrument was owned by the Dutch Gypsy stars Stochelo Rosenberg and Paulus Schafer. It is in excellent condition with some very light fretwear and a fair amount of pickwear on the top.
A fully loaded celebrity guitar like this is almost unheard of for under $3K. Treat yourself to what could be the deal of a lifetime!
