Saga Gitane Tailpiece

Pros: cheap

Cons: low quality metal

I'll say the price is right and appropriate to refitting my modest-quality Gitane petite bouche, but I was a little annoyed that this is the second time I've had to replace this tailpiece on a guitar I barely ever play, took it out of the case and it had broken in storage (the little metal straps that bend over the edge). If I was banging out la pompe on it for hours every day I wouldn't complain, but... Well, since it's a tenth of the price of the top of the line, I guess you get what you pay for.

Pros: Price and again price.

Cons: No leather,no screws,plastic insert.

I just made ebony insert and red leather back only for more expensive look. All of "Selmer" style tailpieces are made of thin stamped metal/brass plated with gold,chrome,nickle etc and all of them have same contribution to the sound.

This tailpiece is an exact replacement for the original Gitane D500 tailpiece. Very easy to install. The tailpiece is pretty flimsy, which is why it needed replacement on my guitar. If I need to replace it again someday, I'll order this tailpiece again.

Pros: well made, looks as it will last

Cons: Has imatation wood insert, not real wood

Beautifully designed and well made re creation of the Selmer type tailpiece. This was already very affordable and Djangobooks met a competitors price making it even more of a great deal! I only wish the insert were made of wood (plastic insert). This was for an inexpensive oval hole guitar I recently purchased that came with a horrible heavy steel tailpiece. The new tailpiece has allowed the guitar to sound more lively and mid-rangy. Overall great purchase!
