"The sound of this new guitar pickup is as close to that of a good quality mic as you've ever heard from a guitar pickup..."
The HFN's give you a sound that is much more realistic than that of under the saddle pickups and is quite close to the sound of a good microphone. Along with being simple to install, the HFN pickups have excellent feedback rejection and good string to string balance.
There is nothing artificial about the sound of the HFN and the usual compressed 'quackiness' inherent in under the saddle pickup systems is noticeably absent in the HFN series.
The HFN piezo sensing unit fits inside a guitar on the bridge plate of virtually any steel string guitar, be it a 12 string or a triple 0. Due its design, the HFN pickup produces sound much closer to that of a good microphone than any under the saddle pickup that you've ever heard.
The HFN series of pickups utilizes an elegant combination of wonderful materials: rosewood for its main structure and arching with a lightweight brass shell for its noise shielded piezo unit. Total weight of the pickup is a very light 0.2 ounces (7 grams). It will not affect the acoustic sound of the instrument when not in use.
Each pickup is hand built and tested to ensure good sound. As well, each pickup is warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase.
The HFN Artist II+1 pickup includes the new Artist II+1 preamp, a high quality dual channel preamp built right into the endpin jack. This pickup can be used with or without an external preamp/eq/mixer, or can be plugged directly into your amp or PA system. The Artist II+1 preamp includes a prewired volume control wheel that mounts under the edge of the soundhole.
The Artist II+1 preamp is a dual channel preamp with the HFN pickup wired to one channel. The other channel is available for a second pickup, such as a magnetic pickup. Trim pots are provided to control the gain for each channel separately to allow balancing of the signals from two pickups. The signals are then blended into a pre-mixed mono output.
The Artist II+1 preamp can be powered in any of the following ways:
There are no jigs or fixtures to mess around with during installation and there are no changes to the saddle, the saddle slot or to the playability of the guitar. All HFN pickups come prewired and ready to install.
The HFN will fit all steel string guitars with a clear space under the saddle (on the bridge plate) of 2.75" in length. If necessary, the feet of the arch supports of the HFN can easily be trimmed down to fit smaller openings. The thickness of the HFN is a scant quarter of an inch (0.25").
You have your choice of installing the HFN pickup on the bridge plate of your guitar using one of the two supplied mounting mediums. All HFN's come with both a 3M double sided foam tape as well as our special putty. The foam tape is a little easier to install with, while the putty takes a fraction more time. Personally, we like the sound of the pickup installed with the putty the best. Both mounting methods are simple and very secure but either way, the pickup may be removed easily at any time should you want to move it to a different instrument.
The HFN will fit virtually any X braced steel string acoustic guitar whether it has a pin bridge or not. The only hole that you need to drill is for the endpin jack. Installation is quick and simple and takes about 15 minutes (if you take your time at it).
