Schatten VR-2 Neo 1/8" Viola Pickup

The VR-2 is now available with the new Neo-Jack series output jack. Exceptional sound quality in a pickup and the first production output jack that does not clamp to the side of a viola. The Neo-Jack is held in place simply and securely by the viola's own tail gut.  The Neo-Jack 1/8" provides a small 1/8" output jack. The pickup comes with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter so one can use a standard guitar cable. A 1/8" to 1/4" 10 foot cable is available as an option.

The VR-2 offers unparalleled reproduction, range and clarity of sound all wrapped up in a high quality  Superieur Despiau "two tree" maple bridge. There is no false 'fatness' of sound to this series of pickups; they will give you everything that your viola has. The response is sweet from the bottom end right up to the top. It has been tested and proven over nearly thirty years in production.

The Neo-Jack is held in place by the viola's own tail gut. The Neo-Jack will fit 99.9% of all violas regardless of the chin rest clamps. So rather than having an output jack assembly that clamps to the body of the viola, the Neo-Jack tucks in at the butt of the instrument just above the endpin button.

A highly efficient piezo element is built into a Despiau B model bridge. There is no acoustic degradation or loss of normal acoustic tone or volume. All VR-2 models are in 4/4 size and fit a normal full sized adult viola.

This pickup has been designed to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp when plugged into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.) As with any pickup, the sound can be further enhanced with an outboard preamp. If you require the ability to plug directly into a P.A. or mixer then you may wish to add Schatten's Mini Pre belt clipable preamp.
