Not much to say about this except WOW!!!! A REAL vintage 1950 petite bouche Selmer in AMAZING condition.
This one is really a dream come true as it has everything you could ever want in a vintage Selmer: Pristine condition, outstanding tone and projection, and the easy playability you'd expect of a contemporary instrument.
The tone is just phenomenal on this one! The high end just sizzles, making even the most prestigious modern instruments sound dull and lifeless by comparison. The mids are full of character and the instrument will growl when you play the lower strings. The guitar speaks easily with even the slightest touch of the pick yielding stinging single notes or roaring chords. No doubt, this guitar has "Wow Factor" galore...not often a veteran such as myself is this impressed with the tone and projection of a vintage guitar.
The condition is excellent, better than any Selmer I've ever seen. The neck was reset at some point and there is a Y shaped crack in the heel (see photos). Seems stable and of no consequence. Other than that, the guitar just has some light signs of wear: scratches, dings, etc. Looks as if it spent most if its life in the closet.
The hardware is all original and in excellent condition. First Selmer I've come across where all the tuners actually work! This is one of the rare late models with a solid rosewood neck and Brazilian back and sides..
The Selmer log book shows this guitar was bought by "Agel" on Sept 20, 1950.
