At long last, the original Stimer pickup is now available! This pickup is a reissue of the original design by Yves Guen. Yves' son, Christian, is now producing these wonderful pickups which adhere completely to the original design. They yield the same classic sound that Django and so many other great Gypsy players made famous. Christian did update the mounting system which utilizes an noninvasive magnetic clip which allows you to easily remove the pickup if need be.
Yves Guen Stimer St48
Pros: easy mounting; vintage sound
Cons: big volume knob can be touched involuntary while playing
great pick up made by Yves son Christian according to the original Stimer that was used a.o. by Django himself. It attaches by means of small magnets to the inside of the D-hole and then to a sort of bridge with magnets to the underside of the pick up itself. The sound is vintage Django if played over a tube amp or todays GJ if played over an AER. The setting up for a gig can take up to 5 minutes right from the velvet envelope and guitar case. The led uses an RCA plug on the Stimer side and a regular 6mm guitar plug on the amp side. Volume can be adjusted from the Simer element itself. Beware thouh not to touch it after the soundengineer has adjusted his panel for the gig.
