WEEKLY WEDESDAY HOBART GYPSY JAZZ JAM:
*Acoustic Jam only at this stage, no amps etc*
Live in Hobart and not sure what to do on a Wednesday night?
Come on down to the Cascade Hotel, South Hobart from 6.30-8.30pm-ish for the Hobart Gypsy Jazz Jam Session (AKA The Cascade Sessions).
Whether you want to play or listen, all are welcome, and please tell your friends about this one so that we can get some good support in the beginning few weeks of the jam (if its working for the venue they’ll let us keep doing it).
Feel free to bring charts for tunes you would like to play, or join in with what the house band are playing. Its great to pick up new tunes this way.
The jam is acoustic only, so please don’t bring amps etc. If you have a guitar, horn, violin, accordion etc bring it along. Singers most welcome too! There will be a double bass on site most of the time so I’m sure that can get rotated as well.
All levels are welcome, whether you’re a student, hobby player, or professional muso. It’s about having some fun together, learning new tunes, and drinking booze.
The repertoire is not limited to gypsy jazz…anything swing is fair game.
Sessions will be every Wednesday from 6.30pm for the foreseeable future.
Hope to see you there sometime!
