Paris Swing 39 stolen 5/13/13, Vancouver WA

David F.David F. Vancouver, WA✭✭✭
Mickey Methlab broke into our house yesterday morning while we were out. Among the items he stole was my 4 month old Paris Swing oval hole, serial number A11120053. This was in Vancouver, WA, ten miles from Portland, OR. Keep an eye our, Portlanders, okay? Thanks!

Sorry to hear that, David. You might want to give notice to some of the used guitar dealers in the area. I don't know them all, but the big ones are Apple, GuitarCrazy, Tradeup, Portland Music, Old Town Music, ... probably a few others. It's a unique enough guitar that it might actually be recognized if you walk in there with a picture and a description and ask them if you can pin it up on their bulletin board if they have one. That way, the employees will see it.

You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

I hadn't taken pictures of the guitar yet; and have notified Apple, Guitar Crazy (where I bought it) and Briz Loan which is a music pawn shop on the Vantucky side of the I-5 bridge. I also lost a 70's Fender Precision bass which, like many Fenders, was a parts-box instrument with no serial number--the PS I hope to recover, the bass probably never!

Thought you might be interested in this post from violinist.com from four months ago:

    "One comment about Craigslist.
This is a very frequently used way to sell stolen goods, but often they are not sold locally. Look for logical 'corridors'. I live in Portland, OR, and I have heard that many items stolen from this area are sold in the Los Angles, CA area; the freeway going North/South through here is used to transport the goods.
So, for this area, check the Seattle Craigslist, Los Angles Craigslist (Ignore San Francisco; it would be off the main route), and any major cities in between."

No returned Paris Swing yet, but Trade Up Music did sell me a used Gitane D500 with bigtone bridge at a very reasonable price. They were quite positive about my stolen instruments--said that they'd had stolen guitar sellers arrested in the store when they brought the goods in! Me like Trade Up Music.
