Preferred strings for a Stimer

ChrisMartinChrisMartin Shellharbour NSW Australia✭✭ Di Mauro x2, Petrarca, Genovesi, Burns, Kremona Zornitsa & Paul Beuscher resonator.
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for using strings other than the normal Argentines with a Stimer pickup. I read on one of the French forums where somebody recommended using regular electric strings for better balance and tone.
They were using a wound G - .024 - so presumably a medium 12-52 gauge set.
I know most stick with the Argies (or similar silver wound Galli, D'Addario EJs etc) but curious to know if there is any difference.
I will try a set of regular electrics myself and see how it sounds through a Pignose portable (works great for that late '40s Django tone) and Fender amps and report back.
Actually I am using a Kleio, but to me it sounds like a Stimer so I use that term as the standard reference, there should be no difference.
