Why do nylon string selmacs exist?

Do any of the known GJ artists play these today?

I'd read that the original selmacs were nylon, so maybe it's a tip of the hat toward tradition.

I've been GASsing for one for a while. A friend of mine did this portrait of me with one.

Mario Maccaferri, the man who invented these guitars, was a classical guitarist and originally built them as nylon-strung instruments.

I believe Andy MacKenzie plays an original nylon string Selmer.

Thomas Dutronc -- one of the rhythm guitarists from Bireli's Vienne DVD -- plays one in his own group.
