Fays has a new release out on the ricordu label "Mon Histoire de la guitare"-

http://www.ricordu.com

1 Cd is dedicated to classical(hes an excellent player);the other is jazz stuff!
Ricordu is an interesting label specialising in Corsican music(some nice gtr stuff there as well)
I think we should all talk more about Fays--hes a real master-long before this music was fashionable
...and one of the best right hands of them all!!

    Thanks for the heads up Stu!

    I think that CD might be a rerelease of some older recdordings. Eitherway, I'll see if I can get some in.

    You've seen these Fays videos, right?

    * Raphaël Faÿs: Waltz

    * Raphaël Faÿs: Swinging Love

    Yes Michael!!
    i just wish i had broadband :-)
    ....i sometimes have the feeling that i'm in a '78 rpm' groove while everyone else is strictly digital or at least '33 and a third' :-)
    Anyway--it needs to be stated again that i think we all admire the love and energy(as well as the business acumen!) that you put into this site--its a breath of fresh air.I mean that.
    Cheers
    Stu

    No broadband...Bummer.

    In Holland even the Gypsies have broadband...provided by the government! I always got a kick out of hanging out with some Gypsies and watching them surf the net. Especially the older ones who are totally illiterate. I guess there's lots of pretty pictures to look at!

    And thanks for the kind words....I'm glad all the hard work that goes into running DjangoBooks is appreciated. Although I might have to argue against me having any kind business acumen. What kind of moron would try to write books about Django for a living? I'd probably make more working at a 7-11. My parents think I'm nuts....ha ha. I guess I have peice of mind though.....

    Great player. My first ever on-line purchase was 'Voyages' from Amazon.com. I don't know what they went thru' to get it, but by the time it finally arrived, they had removed it from their website. Nice to see his music is more accessible these days.

    LOL! I had the exact same thing happen, I can't remember which Fays disc it was, I think it was the Nuits de la Gitanes but I could be wrong.

    His Romantique Voyage is one of the most beautiful gypsy compositions I've ever heard, I really love that one.

    I met raphael in noumea november last year - he's a character :) - i went to his room hoping for a lesson and got a two hour classical concert ! - beautiful stuff - his concert that night was superb - he plays with tons of feel and emotion - played a tune called captain swing amongst others.
    i have an album that he recorded with michel trabelsi live in noumea in 2003 - some great stuff.
    cheers
