Well, if you consider that an album ripped to good quality mp3 consumes about 80 megabytes, and they have 3.3million albums (300k of which are CDs)

then 3.3 albums would consume 264 megabytes
so 3,300 albums would consume 264 gigabytes
so 3,300,000 albums would consume 264 terabytes.

I find this interesting because that's nearly four times the size of the digitized archives of either the US Library of Congress or the British National Archives which represent something like 10 centuries of printed material whereas sound recording technology is only about a century old.

So, if it is true that "A picture is worth a thousand words", a song is apparently worth even more... or at least is more difficult to store...

Oh, and in terms of Ipods? Well... the largest Ipod is 160 gigabytes whereas 264 terabytes is 264,000 gigabytes - so that's about 1,650 ipods.

But you'd never get them loaded - especially using a USB port - you'd grow old and die waiting for Itunes to synchronize... and the PC would crash midway through the synchronization anyway so you'd have to start over...

    ;)
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

I probably shouldn't bid then. I only have a nano. Plus I already feel guilty for all the stacks of cds that I already fail to listen to.
