Honeysuckle Rose lick

Hi everybody,

I have a question about a certain lick that is very common among Dutch players and maybe others as well. I think it's over a major 7th chord leading into the tonic.

Mozes does it a variation at 0:21. And 0:55 in a more conventional way. With the harmonics thrown in. It's also in Stochelo's Honeysuckle Rose on Gipsy Summer. I've heard similair but not this way by Django but I'm not sure whether I've heard all versions of Honeysuckle Rose by him. What does it consist of and ofcourse if anyone has tabbed it or would like to do that would be even more welcome.

it can be used over many different chords depending on how you arrange the notes, but in this case it's over an F7 going to Bb

generally the notes of the main pattern are

e    7 10 8
b               11 8
g                      8
d                        10
a
a

that's the "essence" of the phrase, you can add notes before and/or after and manipulate it however you want depending on the rhythm/tempo/chord/etc...

For the B string part do you mean 10 8 (not 11 8)?

nope it's 11.... it can be 10 though... but most of the time gypsies and django play 11... they're thinking more in terms of Cm7 over F7.... or F7sus4 for theory nerds
