Gitane scale length vs Selmer scale length

I was wondering if anyone noticed that all the Gitane oval hole guitars including the JJ model have a scale length of 26 5/8" or 676 mm. It was my understanding that all the Selmer oval hole guitars were made to be 670 mm. 6mm might not seem like much but it can surprisingly make a difference. I have LMI scale templates for both 670mm Selmer and 648mm Maccaferri guitars, and so I just assumed that was the correct length. Dell Arte also uses 670mm. Does anyone know why Gitane is using a longer scale length? I was thinking that maybe for production reasons they were trying to locate the bridge/bracing in the same position as the D-hole, but I don't have a D-hole to compare with my DG255.
