Django recorded this in 1935, but were there recordings of this song prior to that? Is this song in the public domain?

Blue Drag was written by Josef Myrow a Russian born in 1910. It was recorded by Earl Hines and his Orchestra - Blue Drag, Brunswick, July 1932, and also Washboard Rhythm Kings - Blue Drag, Vocalion, December 1932.

I haven't heard the Freddy Taylor version.

Josef Myrow is Fred Myrow's father, a composer of many movie themes including Soylent Green.

Django recorded Blue Drag four times in total, twice in 35 and twice in 36, one of 36 versions being unissued and the other recorded in Jean Sablon’s humble abode in Paris.
