Hi - Spending a few days in Paris next month and looking forward to hitting some GJ clubs (as seen on another post). I would love to get a lesson while there, anyone know a Paris based teacher?

Thanks

Here's a link with some teachers and schools in Paris with emails, rates etc.

Also some bars where you can jam and perhaps meet some teachers.

    My pleasure constatine!
    Have a great trip!
  • Hi everyone,

I'm french and it's my first reponse (and probably my first mistakes in english): in a french forum, you can find almost all the most famous place where to see and maybe to play gypsi music; here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/django-in-paris

Then, to find a teacher (a good one), I know 2 or 3 people who can teach this kind of music but they are not listed and I don't know if they can teach in English: I can ask them for the language, just mail me if you are interested.

And finally, I also play this music and I live in Paris: if you just want to play, I can be available

    Bye

That is a great map. But it isn't acually a Frenchman's perspective. It seems to have been created by this forum's own Adrian Holovaty. Nice to see his Google map getting some play in France!

Fesselpirate, welcome, and please post more often. It would be nice to get a Parisian perspective on all things Gypsi, what the scene is, who the upcoming artists are, what new CDs are out, etc.

I just thought that map was very clear for a person who doesn't know Paris: the places Adrian Holovaty pick are very famous and well-known but, it's sure, there are many other places more hidden. And I don't know how to use correctly google map (I'm actually working). But for exemple, every sunday, there are more than 3 gig at 3 different places: one is at "the old navy" (150, bd St-Germain, Paris 6e)animated by David Gastine (I went one time here and I had the opportunity to play with Seb Giniaux); the second one is "Atelier Charonne" (you can find this place on the Adrian's map) animated by Aurélien Trigot (violin) and a pianist (I forget his name sorry); and every two weeks, Mitch and I animate at "the green linett" (8 avenue victoria, Paris 1er). These exemples are only for the sunday... You can imagine that every day, there are some gigs...I will try later to list each gig for each day for each place (that I tried or I heard because I can't duplicate myself  )

And sorry to pollute your post Constantine...
