That makes sense. And Max Robin in the Complete Compositions of Django indicates that the tune Webster may have been named after the tape recorder Django got
The Webster tape recorder was the first he got, the other one in Samois was a modern one for that time. When I saw it it was still in good health and running.
The photo on the left in my compilation is from Charles Delaunay. I can't remember where I got the one on the right from.
I sent you a copy comparing these two a long time ago when I noticed the difference. The one on the right is from a documentary. It was a still image cropped like that. You can see it here at 8m 28s: https://youtu.be/-7BSvnZ9sCE?t=8m28s
The documentary is "How Django Reinhardt survived the NAZI Occupation of Paris" by John Persivall.
Thanks. I used to be in touch with John Persivall. I think I asked him about his photos and he was very vague saying he'd got them from the net. I'll try again.
@Teddy Dupont I saw a note on a hotclub.co.uk forum post from 2017 that you had spoken to a collector with previously unseen footage of Django. Came over here to search for any news on that but found this older post from 2015. Just wondered if there was any follow up to your 2017 comment. Thanks!

Sadly not. Unsubstantiated claims I’m afraid. There have been many of them.

No doubt. Thanks for the reply.
