La Pompe...
I know this subject has been treated before but I wanted to see if you guys could give me some help regarding la pompe. I've downloaded Michael's online lesson and I learned the basics. The problem is that when i hear the masters playing up tempo tunes, I don't hear the upstroke preceding beats 1 and 3. How do you guys approach the upstroke on fast tunes?

I talk about that on my site : http://www.serendipity-band.com/misc/manouche/src/pompe-en.htm#pompe-standard-rapide with 2 video examples on the "Yeux Noirs".
It's not so different from the slower pompe. The upstroke is there but it's quite discrete (and it requires a strong right hand to be played right). Or you can simply scrap the upstroke too, it's fine at fast tempos.
