That's really kind of you. Sorry I missed this follow-up reply. That mic looks about as rare as hen's teeth and not sure how it would fit the big mouth - the guitar, not me, although... Waiting for Michael's word on Peche vs DeArm RC fit before shipping me the guitar. Probably going to be one of those, though if he had the DuPont Stimer in stock and it fit I'd go for that if only bcs of the volume control.
Big thanks again!

I've had both DeArmond rc's - one with adjustable pole pieces and one without- neither are well balanced for gypsy strings. The B string is too hot and the G string much quieter. They are also quite thick and neither fitted my Altamira.
crookedpinky THANKS for the knowledge from experience. The fit I understand, but we're these the 'Gypsy' model adaptation? Michael's description on the site:
"The sound is crisp and clear, with the most even response of any magnetic pickup I've heard! The B string is not too hot and the G string is as loud as all the others."
Frustrating to hear different stories. If you had balance problems with the specific Gypsy model DA RC, then I guess it looks like the Peche - hopefully. I am drawn more and more to the volume control - most practical for turning up to solo, then sink back behind the band as they're are horns & clarinet. I'm ready to trim the fingerboard extension down a couple frets to better fit it, but in the end if it has to be a Krivo for the thickness, I'll do it - I know the guys who have em like em. Just stuck on the more authentic aesthetic.
For all the kind recommendations I've gotten here I still don't feel 100% sure about any of the options - guess I won't until he's back from break and can test the fit.
And who knows why these experiences are different. I've heard similar before, something works for one person, doesn't for another. I don't doubt Alan's experience, I also would trust Michael's recommendation. These guitars are mostly similar but not physically identical or nearly so in a way a Stratocaster and a copy might be, where things are much more standardized.

I don't think De Armond make a "gypsy" version of the Rhythm Chief. Their website only mentions the 2 types and nothing about a "gypsy" version.

Here's the DeArmond website. No mention of a "gypsy" version. Also the pickups on Djangobooks show the attaching tab on the right hand side, this would be unnecessary on a gypsy version.

Easy to add inline passive volume control. @V-dub makes one too

Hmm... Michael offers it here on his site.

Wait, let me move this elephant out of the way. There; that's better. Thanks for that info!
