They mention Django and then neglect to actually include any of his music among the selected tracks:

It's a subscription only but I was able to take a few screenshots before the fence showed up...why do people still perpetuate the "played with only three fingers" myth? Is it so hard to mention limited use of his pinky and ring finger?

You can view the entire article by pasting the link into google translate. Just select any language other than English and translate the entire page:

Wait....so you just paste into Google translate, select any language...then select back to English? Or you say that it is in some other language and then want to translate TO English? How was I not aware of this hack?

I used to just use a "cached page" when that was an option, but I think they figured that out and stopped cacheing paywalled articles like this. Thanks for the tip.

No Joe Pass or George Benson? I can’t take this article seriously. Nice that jazz guitar is being talked about in the mainstream, but still, how could they not include Breezin’ as something accessible for a non-jazz listener? I’m surprised Julian Lage didn’t get a mention as a current jazz guitarist who seems well known outside just jazz guitar circles.

I just set it to translate from Mongolian to English. Best to use a non-Western language to avoid cognates.

I admit it...I had to look up the word "cognate."

I feel you on that sentiment.

Was especially surprising to see Sonny Sharrock mentioned not once, but twice...I feel like most people wouldn't be able to make it through most of his recordings, much less even be aware of him at all (although his Ask the Ages is certainly an avant-garde "classic" if you're into that sorta thing).

I mean no "Smokin' At The Half Note" but lists are always weird.
