I just used a long thin leather strap, almost cord like, because it happened to be handy. Any type of strap will work though as both ends are tied to separate pieces of rope/ string/ or lace which actually attach to the guitar rather then the strap directly attaching to the guitar. DIY is part of the original punk ethos😎
