It's an interesting idea. That being said, with so many incredible builders out there, and some great budget choices, this doesn't interest me at all. Are there enough players in this genre that care about a non-vintage instrument with the Selmer name on a headstock? Wish them luck, but I'll take my money to any of the number of brilliant luthiers out there. And really I mean Jerome Duffell, he can have my money :)
The only way this makes any sense to me is if it’s a budget line. That would give you a reason to choose these over Eastman, Altamira, etc. The market for these guitar is so small, and the people who can afford to pay for the more expensive, luthier-built instruments would probably rather buy from the luthier.
The only way they could do it as a budget line is to produce them in China or Indonesia. Justified or not I think that would completely kill most people's interest in them.
I think they could meet demand with a small team in France though. Mateos is pretty much a two-man operation and puts out a lot of great guitars.

What is the point of this resurrection of the Selmer trademark, really? It means nothing, other than a marketing tool.

No point to a mid-priced "Selmer" -- either it's a cheapie, or a high-end rival to the original Selmers, in my opinion.
Yes!! New selmer branded guitars was actually on my bingo card for 2025
This is so well done!!
I sold two guitars today and bought one about 3 weeks ago 🤣
