Hi folks,

Im new to this page. Thanks for let me join this wonderfull forum which im following for couple of years without account.

My name is Djoe de Jonge, age 38 from the Netherlands. Playing this gerne for couple of years. As lots of you i felt in love when hearing the inventor in this style.

I started with the cheapest manouche guitar on the market, followed by a Gitane dg255 i played for 2 years. Than i was looking for something new and bought a second hand Gerrit Bergeijk from 2006 on his recommandation who do maintance on my guitars. Last year i bought an unplayed JWC from 2022 with a beautiful sound and playability.

Hope we all have a great time.

Djoe

@DjoeNL Do you remember what brand was that cheapest guitar you mention you started on?

Thank you @wim , i really appreciate the welcome.

@Joonas my first manouche guitar was a Richwood oval hole, maybe they go around cheaper those day? For me it was a good start for couple of months.

@DjoeNL Yes, I've been looking at Richwoods recently, made a thread even not so long ago. There seems to be at least two models on the market currently. An altered shape oval hole that is sold for instance at Thomann in Germany, and the non-altered shape oval hole they sell at Aliexpress in China.

I never bought a manouche guitar new, i recomand to test a guitar before buying.

That saying i think cigano is a very good choice for tasting gypsy jazz

Yeah man, welcome. Gerrit builds nice guitars. And through his page I learned about Popy Basily, who plays one of his guitas. What a player, wow

Welcome Djoe! Whereabouts in NL are you? I'm in Amsterdam and we have a couple of monthly jams here — hope to see you there. See info here.

Also, make sure to check out the Stichting Hot Club de France Nederland (in case you didn't already know): https://hcdf.nl/

@adrian Thank you for the welcome.

    I'm in Zoeterwoude dorp.

A friend told me about the hdfc website and the jam sessions. Hope to meet soon, having fun and make music together.

    Thank you for the tip.
