This is from 1962, Les Guitares de Montmartre. Tunes like this were popular in 1960s Paris - with a strong melody and interesting harmony. Likewise classical pieces like Mozart's Sonata in D, Adiagio d'Albinoni (not by Albinoni), Reverie by Debussy, etc. This repertoire has kind of fallen out of favor in recent times but should be brought back... The melodies are not usually that hard to play and audiences do like them.
Plaine de ma plaine was popular with US Reds like Pete Seeger who did call it Meadowlands.
