I've learned not to fanboy with any of these players

That's really it. Another anecdote from the archives, I remember when we had Al Di Meola for a clinic and you could tell right away that he very much appreciated we as store staff were all "normal" when interacting with him. And I had no idea how fixated and truly obsessed super fans can get until that clinic in particular...because after Al finished performing and the clinic had concluded, there was about a 30-45 minute time slot for audience Q&A with him...and wow, some of the questions he would get; I mean, people were literally asking him about his diet and what he had eaten that day for meals lmao.

One dude who still stands out was absolutely obsessed in particular with Al's pick, as tho that singular piece of plastic was solely responsible for magically transforming Al from just some guy into SUPERHERO GUITAR GOD...anyway, that dude would not stop persisting in his questioning of all things pick so finally Al just said "Do you want the pick? Here, I'll just give it to you" and that's exactly what he did, clearly just to escape the pick questioning/grilling lmao (iirc, Al's pick was just some rando Dunlop or similar). And to Al's credit?? Fan interactions like that were also all clearly so old hat for him and he was just so casual about dealing with the super fans, like they were wayward puppies...and while he didn't allow pictures, Al sat there and signed autographs for more than hour with a line of people that was probably 300-400+ deep, line all the way down the store and extending outside (and not only did he sign singular autographs, at times he was literally autographing his entire recording library on vinyl that multiple, completely obsessed super fans hauled with them to the clinic).

Anyway...apologies for the thread drift, had an extra cup of tea this morning so I'm blaming the caffeine lol
