In our commitment to widen the Gypsy Jazz repertoire with tunes composed after Django’s death, this time we did our best to arrange Joy Spring, an iconic melody from the hard bop era that appears on the great Clifford Brown & Max Roach album.
In this sparring session, Punch Trio have the luck of throwing a few punches with Yannick Jacquet on cello. 🎻🥊

Swinging!!
Great arrangement.
And so nice to hear the cello in this context.
Thank you for keeping the music alive!
The channel should have 100x as many subscribers, this is quality stuff
One of my fave tunes of all time, beautiful work!! Not the easiest head to play w/rest stroke (or at least initially it wasn't for me) but worth the effort to transcribe, all the 2-5s are such a great workout for the ears
And what a great, beautiful stage with the glass and trees background. It's really special. This one may be my favorite so far. I feel it's even more relaxed and breathing then the ones before and everything so far had an amazing groove already.
The videos you guys have posted have all been great. Is there an album in the works?
Thanks to everyone for the positive comments.
Yes, we are preparing a trio album (Punch trio) and we’re looking forward to making new "sparring sessions" with new musicians and instruments.
