Incoming Custom Grande Bouche

I commissioned a non-traditional grande bouche from Rochester, NY luthier Bernie Lehmann. By non-tradional, I am referring to scale length, top bracing and wood choices. I wanted 14-frets to the neck but a shorter scale (25-1/2" vs. 26-3/8") because it's similar to my other guitars and I don't need the extra volume afforded by the extra tension. Instead of the traditional ladder bracing typically found in these guitars, I opted for asymmetrical x-bracing to be a bit richer in overtones. We used Carpathian spruce from Romania for the top and cocobolo from Mexico for the back and sides. Other traditional features such as a D and G string cutting into the headstock, zero frets, French fret marker locations and the fingerboard overhang were NOT ordered on this guitar. We chose an upstate NY "Roycroft" design motif to decorate the guitar. It should arrive next week and I can't wait to play it!

Looks stunning. I'm interested in hearing how it sounds with such a different design.

As I had said on the other forum, this guitar is truly magnificent! As you had a nice Gitane, I will be curious to hear your thoughts on the tonal differences.
