  Besides Birelli, there was Romane, Stocholo Rosenberg, and Sébastien Giniaux on the main stage this year. But given their modest role in the main stage performances, I can understand why some of the biggest name GJ players might decide to skip it, which would be really unfortunate. Nonetheless, the main stage is simply not as intimate and real as when the performers are right next to you, without all that equipment and distance. And the real thing can be experienced at the small stage, campgrounds, in the village's two taverns and on the island most any place. And if you got the nerve, it's possible for you to jam right along with them.

  Ok yeah that makes sense. I can see why the top players would be disappointed if they are relegated to the small stage or the campfire jams. But who knows, maybe if it brings in more of a general audience and they hear GJ also being played around the camp maybe they will become fans???

  My daughter loved both the main stage performances and everything else Samois had to offer. She's attending school in London and wants to go back to Samois every year! Here is one of my favorite performances at Samois 2015.
