Hello everyone! I am and live in Panamá and here there is no one but me playing this style. Ive been studying from books (Gypsy Picking) and i ve been enrolled in the Rosenberg Academy on line. But for yeaars i am feeling stuck specially with the half restroke for descending scales...seems imposible and i ve been practicing for quite a while. I come to the conclusions i need to travel and at least have a couple of lessons with a legit manouche teacher. Since i live in Panama, traveling to Europe is too expensive...Can anybody please recomend mea teacher in the United States? Thanks
If somebody wants to check what I do, here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK9Yqt5ujC0

I would recommend flying just a little farther north and taking lessons with @dennis
Here's the info on his website: http://denischang.com/index.php/2015/09/04/music-lessons-in-montreal-quebec/
I did homestay lessons this year and they were well worth it. Plus Denis is a very gracious host.
Hey Luis. Welcome to the forum. I lived in Panamá until I was a teenager. Then we moved to the US in 1985.
I now live in Atlanta Metro Area and we have a couple of instructors here that can teach Gypsy Jazz. They would be Charles Williams and Nick DeSebastian. I can put you in touch with them if you ever find yourself in Atlanta, Georgia.
hahaha thanks, but i would recommend going to django in june or samois to experience the community first!!! it 's a life changing experience! and then u'll ahve a better idea of what u want out of this music :-)
