1950s Couesnon ***NEW PRICE***
This wonderful instrument was handmade in the Couesnon workshop in Mirecourt,
France. Mirecourt has long been one of France's most important
centers for lutherie, with a tradition of instrument making that goes back hundreds of years. In the post-war era Couesnon produced a wide selection of guitar models, including classicals, flatops, and jazz guitars. Their guitars were designed with consultation from classical virtuosos Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya who both performed with Couesnon guitars.
This delightful example is Couesnon's jazz model which features a Gypsy style bent top and F shaped soundholes. The original top was recently replaced with a new one fashioned from high grade spruce. The frets are new and the neck has been reset. It has been outfitted with a nickel DB tailpiece and a set of Schaller nickel plated tuners.
Age has worked wonders on this guitar as the tone is smooth and satisfying, with some beefy mids and great projection. The sound is very dry, with very little overtone ringing and clear, strong fundamentals. This guitar has so much character! You just don't find new guitars that sound like this. Treat yourself to some exquisite vintage tone for less!
