Paul, did you ever finish that pretty quilted maple guitar you were working on? I remember seeing some pictures of it in work but don't recall seeing it finished.

Nope, that and a mahogany are my next two to finish. The maple one is for me I think.

This one is almost done...needs final finishing. And I will make a pickup insert for it. This is a version of a guitar I wanted to make even before I started making guitars. Like 2019. I've had to change some things that I wanted (initially I wanted modern archtop soundholes and a built in pickup) but style wise this is pretty much it.

Just spent 5 more days working on tailpieces. I think this is it but designing a tailpiece I like that doesn't explode has been a process. This one is actually not very hard to manufacturer and I think is going to work well. This one is ebony laminated to carbon fiber plate. I have some maple ones I made too. I think because the CF is doing the heavy lifting I can kinda use a lot of different woods.

This tailpiece is a prototype...pretty good but a little lumpy. I might switch it out.

I shouldn't post pictures of guitars when they are 95% done and have dust on the headstock but I felt like it. Still needs 10 coats of finish....

    I think it's a beautiful looking tailpiece!

    Thank you! I like it.

I wish I had saved all the tailpiece experiments I've made this year. I think maybe I've made like 20 tailpieces for 3 guitars. I learned a lot in the process. I think this one works.

The curve on the maple cap on this one has a little kink in it. Probably only someone annoying like myself would notice it but it annoys me.

More traditional D-hole shape? I really like the clean unbound soundhole opening. And I'm a fan of the tailpiece too. Cool guide for drilling through top for the string openings. I do miss the look of the mustache pieces but I'm slowly getting used to it. No logo yet? McEvoy on the headstock would look good.
