  Worth every penny. High-quality backing tracks (and 136 already), loop function to isolate specific bars for practice, customizable and sharable charts, metronome, tuner, etc... Get it before the lifetime buy goes away! I already can't live without it.

  Those backing tracks look genuinely excellent: the per-bar loop is exactly the practice tool you want. Good to see the manouche toolkit growing.

  Coming at it from a different corner myself: I'm working on haute-gitanerie.com, a free interactive one for the reference side. A free interactive one for the reference side — arpeggios & voicings on the neck, tune grilles, a small players directory.. Different job (his = play along, mine = look things up), so honestly they pair well rather than compete.

  There is a 7 day trial with all the backing tracks. Seems like a pretty good app.

  But the lifetime license is $97 USD, and the yearly subscription is $19 USD 😔

  I'm not surprised. On one hand you have iReal, which doesn't cost much, does most of what Christian's app does but the sound quality, which is what you need the most, is not very good.

  Then there's the Band in a Box, and they released an updated app which in theory should be awesome but currently it sounds like it's super buggy. And I couldn't figure out how much that costs and if you need to have the latest version of the PC software. Which all put together is a lot more than La Pompe Live. Of course it would do a more as well.

  Right now I'm also not ready to jump on it but maybe down the road. I'm practicing more with the metronome and without (just keeping the groove going) but playing along with the backing track is a lot more fun. Which I have plenty of in the Soundslice where I don't have to deal with the adds.

  Any app that also has an easy way to change the tempo (without producing a garbled sound) would be helpful.

  I wasn't familiar with this app but watched the video. It looks like it combines the chart storage/setlist function from iReal, the practice looping of Soundslice, plus nicely recorded backing tracks (as can be found various places).

  A nice future feature would either be to allow recording of your own backing tracks (for songs not found on his list or for chord subs/arrangements your band plays) as well as compatibility with iReal format charts (so I could import all of the charts I've already created in that app.)

  Thing is, it doesn't have to be for everyone. It is nice to see different apps and tools being created for our little corner of the music world. It just means more exposure as a whole. That's a healthy scene.
