I was the lucky winner of this guitar at the 2013 Djangofest NW raffle right before I went onstage to perform with Fapy Lafertin and John Jorgenson. Unbelievable experience I’ll never forget! Of all the gypsy guitars I own I like the sound of this one the best. It’s super loud, cuts through in jams, the chords sound super crispy and lead lines full of tone. Olli told me he likes this guitar better than his own personal model. AJL did a great job of treating the top to give it a vintage look but didn’t overdo it like some luthiers do. One of the best gypsy guitars money can buy…
Bought new from AJL by Adrian Holovaty, received Dec. 15, 2009.
This guitar is beautiful. AJL puts it through an aging process so that it looks and sounds like an old instrument. It has biting trebles and solid mids. Overall the tone is very “woody.”
One interesting bit about it: AJL aged the neck so that it has a grayish color. It’s super smooth/comfortable to play, with a “worn-in” feel to it.
The guitar was at Django in June in 2010, 2011 and 2012. It was at Djangofest Northwest in 2012. It’s been played at many gigs in Chicago, including dozens at the famous Green Mill jazz club.
Adrian has recorded several YouTube videos with it, including:
