My new fantastic Altamira

Hey guys,

Few months ago I received my new guitar which I am more than content with.

It is Altamira oval hole purchased from Djangobooks. (thanks Michael for your fine opinion).

The guitar has it all, except good hardware.

Fantastic sound, a lot of mids, round highs, not too dark nor too dry, just as I prefer.

I compared it side by side with Stochelos recent Eimers Antique, which he sold to my good friend. I must say that Eimers is a great guitar, especially the neck and fingerboard which is ultra comfortable. Also it looks much better. But regarding the sound, much more comes out of the new Altamira (overall Eimers is much better guitar).

Hey Paul. Not sure why but the Maccaferri style guitars are listed under their "workshop" section (lower right hand corner). Looks like they have several styles including a very cool thin-line. As for contact, looks like the only way to reach them is through email under their "contact" section.'

Check the fit of the bridge to the top. I recently purchased one of these to use as a beater/travel guitar and found that the bridge had not been properly fitted at the factory, such that there was daylight showing under the bridge feet in spots. Fortunately, this is an easy fix with sandpaper and a little patience. See Josh Hegg's topic here: http://www.djangobooks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1200

Other than that, it's a decently built, great sounding guitar with cheap hardware that can easily be replaced. My only other complaint is that there are no position dots on the side of the fretboard, and I rely on side markers more than the ones on top. Fortunately, this is also an inexpensive fix.

Bridge is ok on mine, i even tried to change it with Duponts but the sound is same.

Its only the rattling truss rod that drives me crazy, my room is too dry

So i changed the bridge again to the Dupont one. And it is really a BIG difference.

Really great sound for 1000$ guitar.
