Curvy soundboard?

vincevince Davis & San Francisco, CANew
Hi All,

I'm still noticing little things about my new (used) Latch Drom Djangology, and today I noticed that the top has some vertical curves (not along archtop, see photos). Should I be concerned? Do other guitars have this? I don't care about the aesthetics... I just want note any weaknesses and take precautions. Humidity isn't much of a problem here in Davis, but I do watch it with a humidity monitor. And the thing sounds pretty great.

I don't know whether I'll ever be an excellent player if I keep practicing, but I'm absolutely sure I won't be if I stop.

According to Josh Hegg, the only guy I have work on my guitar, is that the compressed top near the bridge is exactly what you want happening to your guitar over time. We compared two of the same guitars and the one with the compressed top had that punch and crispness. Maybe Bob Holo could add to this discussion?

    Thanks DjangoJim,

I think it's not outside of normality. Bob has made some interesting posts about this topic in the past, i.e. http://www.djangobooks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6134. I'm curious how compressed the tops of much older guitars are.

Michael Bauer had a battered 30s Busato for a while with a badly collapsed top. It was also one of the loudest guitars ever. Denis Chang is playing it in this video:
