Clarinet,accordion & guitar trio

edited January 2012 in Repertoire Posts: 20
Hello everyone,

I've been playing in a trio that consists of a clarinet, accordion ,and myself on guitar, for the last 7 months. As jazz fanatics we went to Samois last summer and we've been playing Gypsy swing/jazz ever since.

We builded up a repertoire over the months, but with the current line up of instruments and our knowledge of music itself, we are struggling to give the tunes more depth and make arrangements that get the best out of the 'situation'. I call it a 'situation' because we'd love to find a bassist and/or a second guitarist, but as for now, we've been misfortunate.

My question would be if someone could give some musical advice, reference to tunes, bands with the same line-up,etc. anything that could be useful to us and help the way we encounter a song.

thank you, very much, for reading and taking the time! :)

Keep it swinging,

Gijs, BE

Do you do much of the Gus Viseur musette stuff?

Tangos too add some nice variation to a set, i find.

My band, Wack-A-Doo consists of guitar, accordion and cornet. You can see videos and hear CD samples at www.wackadooswing.com

Gus's group is a great example. Listen to "Joseph, Joseph" and "The Snake Charmer."
