Here's a fold up chair/walking stick, similar to the one I have. Great for outdoor festivals. Quite comfortable to play on. Sure beats standing around thru 450 choruses of Minor Swing.

    Steveareno,

Do they make a "Grande Tush" model?

  • Good topic. I sit on a stool for my weekly gig and have quite a bit of trouble getting myself into position do to the height and lack of space. I was thinking about one of those devices. Anyone else have a similar situation?

    Jazzaferri,

I think you may have saved my back! I stripped the arms off of a good office chair and improvised a lumbar support out of a small pillow (I have not had time to make it to the store to get an actual lumbar support yet).

It rained all weekend so I was stuck indoors and probably played 4-5 hours a day (at least) and no pain!

Steveo- that cane-chair looks awesome for festivals. I'll look for one of those too.

Thanks so much for the input!

I've been through a few stools busking, looking for the perfect mix of light, portable, the right height & comfortable enough for 5 hours straight playing on a regular basis. This is my current stool:

& it's pretty perfect for me (it does depend on height)... Not the lightest i've had, that would be the aluminum tripod style one (but my nads couldn't take it for long periods, as you festival going types will appreciate), but ticks all the other boxes perfectly for busking or tight corners.

Might sound counter-intuitive, but the Roc-n-Soc with hydrolic lift (made for drummers) was the most comfortable chair I found for playing guitar. A few years ago I spent months trying to find something that tilts back and can be adjusted for height. The Roc-n-Soc met my criteria. Worth checking out!

    :D

Just got back from a week in the U.P. I'm afraid ma tush a grandi. Or rather, grossi. Pas de vin, trop de bière.
