Caravan chords?

I was wondering when playing rhythm for Caravan, what are the 4 different chords to play over the Dm that gives it the different bass note? I was watching the Rosenberg trio play it and it sounds a lot nicer than just holding the Dm for 4 counts.

The first chord I have is (from high E to low E)

x3232x

Thanks if anyone can help me on this!

Usually, the pattern is to raise then lower the fifth of the chord, so you have:
(I prefer to tab from low to high E -- so the strings are xADGBX)

    2323
    2333
    2343
    2333

Hey Jim, what fingering do you use for those inversions? Thanks

Another trick is to lower the D note down to the 6th like this over the DM.

It's a bit of a stretch in the key of D so make sure your left hand is warmed up.

    Low to high strings

    5x37xx
    5x36xx
    5x35xx
    5x34xx

Oh and I forgot, that little interlude with the ascending bass note line is

    Again low to high strings:

    10 x 9 10 x x
    12 x 10 12 x x
    13 x 12 14 x x
    15 x 14 15 x x
    13 x 12 14 x x
    12 x 10 12 x x
    10 x 9 10 x x

And then I think the little chord splash that Stochelo does is some DM like

    x x 15 16 15 17

it's not much but i figured out the turnaround

starting from high E to low E

    x3232x
    x2232x
    x1230x
    x0230x

    Rob,

I don't think that is so much of a turnaround as just hanging on the Dm chord.

Here's another way I do that walk down (same idea as I posted above but in a different position).

    From low to high strings

    x x 12 10 10 10
    x x 11 10 10 10
    x x 10 10 10 10
    x x 9 10 10 10

Watch the beginning of this vid and see Stochelo use this one at 21 seconds in (but he adds that same little chord splash at the end)

By the way does anyone have the tab for the one off of the CD? I couldn't find it.

No problem. Anytime. You've got me interested in this one so if I see any other cool stuff I'll post it. I'm trying to figure out how he arranged the head right now but he plays it so fast it's hard to figure out how he manages all those double stops. I may have to arrange a simplified version that I can handle.
