Triplets or quadruplets

I am a little bit confused about the use of triplets, because when i see the staffs of the transcribed forms i see the notes in a quadruplet form, but all the people speaks about the dud triplet way of playing.

You are probably going to have to post an example of what you want to know.

Triplets can divide different kinds of beats. For instance quarter note triplets, eighth note triplets and 16th note triplets.
read thru some google searches on triplets and that should be of value

So if you see 4 notes to a measure it could be 3 16th note triplets and an eight note. A VERY common phrase in Jazz.
