Yes, the VRs are tough to beat, especially for a dry, traditional sound. The aged woods and heat bent pliage does wonders for the tone and projection. Not to mention, they look incredible as well!

No one ever talks about the Cognac that comes with the guitar. Is it a good one?

Is it what XO actually means for AJL guitars? A grade of Cognac as well?

I believe it's Louis XIII, Joli.

Ha ha, yes it is very good. Maurice's father makes it...I have had more than a few bottles over the years.

Haha! That's the kind of stories I was interested to hear about.
I trust your professionalism Michael, and I appreciate you checking that the Cognac is good!

Funny story actually.....once a Dupont guitar arrived from France and the box was really beat up. The guitar was fine but the case got damaged. So Maurice said he would send me another case to replace it. Before it shipped he said, "Be careful, it's very heavy." At the time I thought ,"Why would an empty case be heavier than one with a guitar in it?" I quickly forgot about it and then a few weeks later the '"empty" case arrived. I picked it up and was like, "Damn, this thing weighs a ton! What the hell is in here??!!" I promptly opened the case to find that it had been stuffed to the gills with booze, including a number of fine French wines and a few bottles of Dupont Congac. So needless to say, I have had more than a small sampling of Maurice's family liqueur.

Michael, awesome story. I had no idea his family made this....very cool. Can you ask his cousin to dive into Armagnac? Maybe a rustic version of his guitars as well? :D

Or maybe a Belgian themed model which comes with a few bottles of Trappist Ale from around Liberchies??!!
