Rino Van Hooijdonk holds a special place amongst the International
gypsy jazz community, having long been respected as being one of the
few non-gypsies to grow up learning Django-style guitar from the
grand-masters in Holland.
As a young man he studied the art alongside Stochelo and Nous'che
Rosenberg of the now world-famous Rosenberg Trio. Rino's progression
as a player led to concerts and tours throughout Europe with
incredible players such as Lulu Rhienhart, Bireli Lagrene and Fapy
Lafertin.
These days Rino is regarded as a grand master himself and a fine
luthier (guitar-maker) of Selmer Maccaferri guitars. He will be making
a rare UK appearance for one night only at Brighton's uber-cool jazz
venue, The Verdict, backed by his friends in the Jonny Hepbir Trio.
Expect no mercy, this will be a blistering-hot session of pumping
gypsy swing classics delivered with style and flair rarely seen in the
area. Don't miss it! Cheap drinks! What can go wrong?

The vintage looking git Rino was using was one of his own making (Rino is a fine
maker of Selmer Maccaferri type guitars). Tone and volume were outstanding.
Rino and the group put on a fine display of swinging gypsy jazz which drew rapt appreciation from the packed room. To top it off the band were joined by the bass player's vocalist partner who was a star in her own right.
Big thanks to Jason for organising.
Was it this guitar ? Its his first "vintage"-look guitar that he has made. I use this guitar as my main guitar. I like it a lot. Very loud, good tone. A while ago a have made a test with 5 gypsy-guitars, and this guitar was in it.

If it is you are a lucky man. Great sound with fantastic projection. Made qiute an impression on the many guitar players present at the gig. Rino's playing added to that guitar sound made it a memorable night.
