    hey guys,

gebruikt comes from gebruiken , that means to use, stochelo uses wegen picks. i like them a lot, but now i have an Arjen Keizer, i think thats his name, pick and that really great, the best i have played with so far. the gipsy-star-plectrums are also very nice and handcrafted.

    Hello
About the moustache picks I like them very much but only the thick ones(4mm)
They make the guitar sound mellow and never scratch(a thing that can happen with tortoise and tortis)
Tortis doesn't'sound like the real tortoise at all.
They have a sharper sound and feel different.
Real tortoise seems to absorb your sweat from your fingers (it's Naturel)
and don't slip away that easy.
But they are hard to get.I've got four of them ,enough for the rest of my life.
I think moustache picks are closest and they are replaceable.and affordable.
His guitars are very good too!!!!!!!!!!!!and also affordable

I haven't tried a Moustache, but will have to. I like the 5mm Wegen. I turn it around and use one of the back corners for rhythm, which gives a really dry, swooshy sound. I know that Wrembel plays a 5mm Wegen, but he mentioned experimenting with a thinner pick awhile back. Jorgenson used a 5mm Wegen at the World Cafe show last week.

I am happy with the Wegen, but enough people like the Moustaches that I think I should try one.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.

Here's the translation (not perfect, but..)

    Down to earth.
Wegen is a down to earth gay, but takes some pride in saying:
"I went to a DR fest on invitation once. Everybody wanted to have their picture taken with me. This thing has changed my life." Wegen Picks and their creator have become an international phenomenen. But in (his) home country certain (guitar) circels are (very) aware of Michel Wegen.
The Rosenberg Trio uses picks from Lochem (Note: home town of Wegen).
There will even be a signature model fro Stochelo Rosenberg.
Stochelo is using the Bigcity Pick, a somewhat larger pick, having 5 holes.
"The airco for my fingers, Stochelo always says", Michel Wegen tells with a laugh.

    OOPS
I just discovered a blunder in my translation.
    The 1ste sentence should read:
"Wegen is a down to earth GUY".

    Sorry!

I'm playing the Wegen gypsy jazz pick (3.5mm) right now, but I am interested in the Moustache. Any preferences for the 3mm over the 4mm?

Also, the model django pictured at Star Plectrums here http://www.star-gipsyplectrums.nl/page008.html looks really interesting, but I think the image got resized without preserving the aspect ratio, since this is the image url: http://www.star-gipsyplectrums.nl/custo ... 20pick.jpg
So it actually looks like this (made out of wood?):

My Moustache 3mm just arrived! Initial reactions of me and another observer is that it seems louder than the Wegen 3.5mm Gypsy jazz pick (seems louder because it's brighter, maybe?). Played briefly and I really love it.
